Baisakhi celebration
Baishakhi involves a lot of socializing. Friends and relatives are invited for dinner or launch. Lots of fruits like ber, lookat, and mithai are sent to the neighbor’s house.India’s prosperous and magnificent culture is reflected in its numerous fiesta and carnival.

This season is an indication for recreation and merriment. People enjoy the festivities by Bhangra dance, dynamic steps accompanied by singing. Women enjoy with the Gidda dance, performed with passion and musical accuracy. At this time men and women beautify themselves with colorful dresses and conventional jewelleries. Big fairs are organized in the village ground. The giant wheels and merry-go-rounds provide great entertainment and joy. Chaat, ice-cream, flossy sugar lollipops and other delicacies are in great demand. Balloons and all varieties of wooden clay toys are displayed for sale.

Baisakhi in India
This carnival has taken different forms, customs and contents in Punjab, South India, Manipur and Assam.
Baisakhi day is named as the Naba Barsha (New Year) in Bengal. On the morning of this day people get a bath in the River Ganga and decorate their homes with rangoli (flower-patterned).
Baishakhi is enjoyed twice a year in Himachal Pradesh in admiration of Goddess Jwalamukhi. This is celebrated in Vaishakha (April-May) and Kartika (November). In South India, Baisakhi is identified as the Tamil and Telegu New Year. Pooram festival in respect of Vishnu is observed in Kerala. The whole community celebrates Baishaki together.

It symbolizes a time of revival, regeneration, parity and vigor. On the whole, this festival leads to contentment and offers bright hope for the future.
