SOME FAMOUS CALCUTTA ADDAS

COFFEE HOUSE (COLLEGE STREET)
Amongst the most admired addas in Calcutta, the Coffee House in College Street deserves particular mention. Situated on Bankim Chatterjee Street, this was formerly known as the "Albert Hall". It is now identified as the

'Indian Coffee House'. This adda has been a tremendously accepted haunt for the Calcuttans. College students hang out to kill leisure-time. Distinguished men of letters also throng this well-known adda since ages. It has always been the haven for poets, artistes, literati and people from different medias. Several literary magazines found their sources of inspiration from the adda sessions at the coffee house.
NANDAN / RABINDRASADAN PREMISES
Today, the young and the old gather around Rabindrasadan and Nandan premises looking for a round of enriching Bengali adda. Budding actors and directors are often found in adda sessions. Adda in Calcutta also include thronging of enthusiastic theatre lovers and cinema lovers in the Nandan premises. Often movie premiers of home directors are held here.

COFFEE HOUSE (JADAVPUR)
A new division of the Coffee House is in Jadavpur, South Calcutta. Its a hub for the students of Jadavpur University as well as for others who enjoy the steaming coffee, pleasantries and for a session of good Bengali adda.

ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
Academy of Fine Arts is the arena where great artists and theatre personalities meet. They often gather around the exhibition halls to discuss theatre or paintings. In spite of not being very old, this adda in Calcutta has an individual trait. Young artists are also seen exhibiting their solo exhibitions and welcoming criticism from the old and

the young in trade. This is a perfect situate for honing up one's artistic faculties.
RABINDRA SAROVAR
Rabindra Sarovar stadium is another place famous for adda in Calcutta. People mostly the elderly gather here at the crack of dawn and at twilight for sessions of adda enjoying the serenity of the place too. The Rabindra Sarovar Stadium and the adjoining swimming clubs are the major venues where people from all ages gather everyday.
