Kartik month is a fortunate month and on the eleventh day from no-moon women on the banks of the Ganga in Varanasi carry out an exclusive festival called Kartik Puja.
This also happens to be the date of extraterrestrial matrimony of Tulsi with Saligram Shila.

 
 

Tulsi is a plant; it is a requirement for the devotion of Vishnu and Narayan. A Saligram Shila is an ammonite fossil, which is the most holy pebble for Hindus.
Traditional sources further affirm that Tulsi and Saligarm Shila are wedded on world on Kartik Purnima day.Womenfolk rejoice the celestial wedding ceremony. One group considers Saligram the same as

 
 

Krishna and the other Tulsi. The celestial nuptial is an exceptional occurrence throughout which women overlook their individual reality and unite with the celestial figures. The women conduct themselves as if they have sense of oneness with divinity. During the marriage formal procedure, they intone marriage songs numbering approximately 50.
