Kenduli
Kenduli is 30 kms from Shantiniketan. Kenduli is the nativity place of Bengal's first renowned poet - Jaydev. Jaydev penned the famous Geeta Govinda. There are numerous temples here. Kenduli is legendary for its folk song carnival held for the period of Makar Sankranti (Mid January). This event is the largest of its type in the state. Bauls, a division of wandering minstrels, congregate here during this fair.

There are a Museum- Vichittra and Art Gallery- Nandan. Inside the Uttarayana compound, there are five abodes of the Tagores- Udayana, Konarka, Shamali, Punassha and Udichi. Besides, Chhatimala, Upasana Mandir, and Shantiniketan Bari are several of the oldest sanctums.

Fairs and Festivals
Shantiniketan is also renowned for its miscellaneous festivals which spot the altering seasons. The foremost festivals are Poush Mela (December), Maghotsab (February), Basanta Utsab (March), Varsha Mangal (July-August), Sharodutsab (Oct-Nov).

Poush Mela
Paus Mela a chief attraction on the Bengali's customs calendar is nearly as old as Shantiniketan. On the Seventh day of Paus in late December of 1843, Maehashi Debendranath Tagore became a Brahmo under the guidance of Ram Chabdra Bigyabagish. A fair is held at Shantiniketan from 7th to 9th Poush and Visva Bharati observes its foundation day. Tribal sports dances and folk songs as well as songs by Bauls, the-wandering minstrels of Bengal, are an ingredient of the fair and merriment.

Rabindra Janmotsab
It is held in memorium of birthday of Rabindranath falls on May 8/9,

Briksharopan
Planting of saplings and Halakarshan, ploughing of fields on 22nd &23 Sravana (August).

Varshamangal
The festival of rains during August/ September.
Maghotsav
Celebrated on the 11th of magha (January), to mark the anniversary of Brahmo Samaj.
Vasanta Utsav
Held to mark Holi. The students dance and sing their traditions through Amrakunja, followed by open-air range of programs.
